CEDAR CHIROPRACTIC CENTER is a full service, holistic health clinic providing personalized Chiropractic Health Care for the entire family. The clinic was founded in 1995. Offering not only painless spinal manipulation and massage therapy but also complete spinal rehabilitation which includes state of the art spinal decompression therapy for treating chronic as well as acute low back problems without surgery or manipulation with an 86% success rate.

Our on-site X-ray and examination facilities provide safe analysis of our patient's condition and enables the doctors to give a more precise diagnosis od individual cases. With two offices to choose from, you not only have a choice of male or female doctors to choose from, but also a choice of techniques. Our two locations also give you convienence so that you may easily recieve the treatment you need and want.

The clinics have a working relationship with area hospitals, labs, neurologists and orthopaedists. Should an MRI or CT scan be needed to better evaluate your problem, facilities are available for these services.

Conviently located in Great Bridge Chesapeake on Cedar Road in the Las Gaviotas shopping center as well as in Deep Creek Chesapeake on South George Washington Highway just south of the draw bridge on 17 S. Business, 1/8th mile from the intersection.

Cedar Chiropractic Centers are open five days per week with early morning appointments from 7:30 AM til evenings at 6:00 PM.

We are a chiropractic team dedicated to educating our patients about proper diet, exercise, and how to maintain a healthy spine and nervous system free of subluxations. Mark R. Gutekunst, D.C.

Dr. Mark was born and raised a Long Island, N.Y. native. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science(B.S.) degree from New York Institute of Technology in their Pre-Chiropractic Program. He was then accepted into New York Chiropractic College and graduated with his doctorate in chiropractic in 1992.

Dr. Mark began treating patients in New York at Suffolk Chiropractic Center until he left in May 1993 to move with his wife Debra to the Tidewater Virginia area. Once he settled in Chesapeake, he began working with the Slone Chiropractic Clinic in the Ghent area of Norfolk.

Dr. Mark spent the next two years treating patients and learning how to operate a successful chiropractic office. He established and opened Cedar Chiropractic Center in May 1995. He has been treating the families of Chesapeake and the surrounding areas since and has worked hard to develop a family oriented atmosphere.

Dr. Mark believes in extensive continuing education. He completed a year long certification course in the management and treatment of injuries as a result of motor vehicle accidents. This includes the study of actual crash tests with human subjects. He is actively participating in the Parker Seminar series which is a continual training conference for chiropractors. Dr. Mark has also completed certification in chiropractic pediatrics through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association www.icpa.org.

Dr. Mark is currently an active member of the American Chiropractic Association, a primary national organization, as well as the Hampton Roads Chiropractic Association, our local organization.

Dr. Mark is married and has two children. His wife, Debra, has been by his side since his days in school. They have actually known each other since high school. Dr. Mark's family enjoys spending time together camping throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall seasons.

Dr. Mark has diverse interests outside of chiropractic. He is a licensed private pilot with both a glider rating and a power rating. He also enjoys scuba diving, sailing, jet skiing. He is currently rebuilding a 1969 VW bug.
